MC hang on saving cover art
« on: December 29, 2011, 06:05:41 pm »

Hi,

Each time I use the function "Get From Internet" for saving a cover art to an album, MC hang on "Updating Server for Album # of # ".  The playback don't stop but MC is unusable for 2 or 3 minutes.

This is very annoying.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Check your cover art location, but my guess would be it's something security related.  A virus checker or a firewall problem.

Are your files local?  Or on a network drive?

Sorry for the delay,

Yes it is on a network drive.

The way to find the cause is to start changing things.  Eliminate the network drive as a possible cause by using a test library on a local drive.

We saw a similar problem recently that was a result of a virtual handheld on a drive that was no longer connected.

Try running MC as administrator.  That will give MC full permissions.  If that eliminates the problem then you may have a file permissions issue that is preventing your account from creating a new file.  Recent builds of MC are putting cover art in a new sub directory "Cover Art\Albums" or "Cover Art\Videos".  It could be that the new Albums or Videos directory has limited file permissions or you don't have necessary permissions to create the directory.

To run as administrator:
right-click on the icon to launch MC and select "Run as administrator"
