Media Centre Browser Plugin fro IE, Firefox and others?
« on: July 17, 2012, 04:15:03 pm »

Hi All,

Has anyone though of building a browser plug-in that allowed the use of the Media Centre Engine to play media files embedded in a browser.

I do use the VLC plug in for Firefox but it doesn't always seem to work.

Just a thought

Are those plugins even necessary any longer with the shift to WebM?

Well, I had to Google that!

AFAICS, this is just another container format, based on Matroska, used the VP8 CODEC for video and Vorbis CODEC for Audio.

However, you still need to play the thing in some kind of media player whether it be a system embedded one or otherwise.

What I would like to see is a MC plug in in for browsers that allows us to use the MC control to play watch an listen to media content (possible also import into the library) directly from the browser.

VLC achieves a similar thing with its browser plug-in - but I would rather use MC.
