6. Fixed: CD ripper dialog could freeze on restarting after an error condition.
7. Fixed: Corners of MJ were hard to grab.
8. Fixed: Display plug-in container would not always save values.
9. Fixed: IF Display in windowed mode, using Media Library would display bars.
10. Fixed: Pressing Ctrl e in full screen mode would not work correctly.
11. Fixed: In unskinned mode Media Jukebox would not follow sys color changes.
12. Fixed: Download Manager would try to import and play file not associated with MJ.
13. Fixed: Media Scheduler would sometimes failed to load Custom Task's Command Line.
14. Fixed: Deleting file in Playlists and Media Library would move focus to first track in the list.
15. Fixed: CD labeler wasn't displaying cover art
16. Changed: In CD labeler wizard, if theme and graphic image are both chosen, graphic image wins out.
17. Changed: Track Info display plug-in would show default template instead of an error message.
18. Fixed: MP3 plugin would execute the any configured tag removing even if no changes were made. (on analysis)
19. Fixed: MP3 plugin would decode improperly when another mp3 decoder was running at the same time.
20. Fixed: MJ would show empty message when trial period expired.
21. Fixed: SetupComplete would not make sure that MJ is not running before executing.
22. Fixed: in TV mode, double-click no longer toggled full-screen mode.

Having some weird behavior on first run of the last couple of betas. Is the link that's posted here a full install, or meant to be installed over a previous version?

Severian,
This is an upgrade, not the full version.  Needs to be installed after the full version has been installed.

. Fixed: Popup error messages during ripping caused cd ripper dialog to disappear beneath MJ window.

Ripper dialog continues to disappear behind MJ window if a change is made in options - file naming/location.  After clicking 'ok' both the options and ripper windows hide behind MJ window.

JimH, King:
I think I got it. It was some weirdness happening on this particular machine. I had a strange bug last week in which everyone else who logged in to my box was fine, but I would hang--I eventually had to nuke all my user settings and start again. Everything was working normally except for MJ. After a few uninstalls/reinstalls back from 7.2, all is well now.

I haven't installed this as yet but will in a moment.

I have been having problems importing, I would have to exit MJ via the task manager
and restart it, then files would import.

RealOne deleted all my file entries I had to put everything back Next Page

>>>19. Fixed: MP3 plugin would decode improperly when another mp3 decoder was running at the same time.

Hmmmm.   Now works OK on single-CPU machines.  No skipping, corruption, etc.

On the dual processor server however, it still corrupts both streams although it does get through the entire file instead of just giving up after the first few seconds.  If you don't have a multi-cpu machine this is going to be very difficult to track down.  Since it now works OK in single cpu mode I can set the cpu affinity so MJ sticks to 1 processor to get around this for now.  I wouldn't consider this to be a critical problem anymore.

Thanks...Remy

When attempting to analyze ReplayGain on hundreds of files, sometimes I put an MPG movie into the list by mistake. When the Replay Gain analyzer hits one of those files, It pops up a dialig "Error in plugin, unable to connect to server" and stops until you clear the dialog.

Also, I queued up 26,000 files to analyze. It was chugging along at about 1000 an hour and sometime after a few hours, Media Jukebox just died without warning. No error messages.

Had posted this awhile back.
Still doing the same thing.

CD Labeler Print quality using cover art has horizontal lines 1/16" apart
from top to bottom when you print label. The lines are the same color same
length every time you print the label. The lines are various colors.

John T. had ask for me to send the image file. Which I did.

Also, when in CD Label Wizard, when I select Preview first than then print from the preview screen the file starts to spool but does not print.
If I print from CD Label Wizard it prints okay.

When an MP3 encoded file is being flushed to disk, MJ blacks the screens on both my monitors (W2K dual monitor setup with two graphics cards.) There's a stationary underline at the top left of the primary monitor and a square block cursor for the mouse. I can't move the cursor to the secondary monitor. As soon as the file has flushed, the screen returns to normal.

I've been ripping all my CDs in WMA, so I haven't noticed this before. I don't know if it's specific to 8.0 or not.

Regarding the black sceeens when ripping in MP3, I forgot to mention that I'm using a USB 2.0 hard drive, which is obviously quite slow compared with a regular hard drive. Nonetheless, I don't get the black screens when ripping in WMA.

Visualizations aren't resized properly in internal/windowed mode. The control bar at the top is covering it. Full screen looks fine. Clean and Tidy is a good example to go by.

You have to put the focus in the file list box first...then press .  This is a standard Windows dialog box...it works for me.

This release is a huge step backwards for me.   Any attempt at CD access hangs MJ and my system.

MJ starts OK and seems fine.   When I insert a CD and try to access it (either drive), I get the "gathering information, updating display" popup but MJ then freezes.   Every minute or so my entire system freezes for about 10 seconds.  I cannot terminate MJ and have to resort to hardware reset.

Note that this did not happen with the previous beta.  However, that beta (first one for me) had trouble with my primary CDROM (Lite-On LTN486  48x Max); would not operate in digital-secure mode.

(1) I get a blue screen of death and some message about IRQ when trying to rip a cd from my HP 8200e.  This worked fine up until a few builds ago, and ripping still works in (dare I say it), MusicMatch Jukebox.

(2) CDs still do not advance track-to-track in either analog or digital (though this works in MusicMatch....)

(3) When switching from Analog to Digital playback on my aforementioned HP CD-RW drive, digital playback becomes seemingly double-time for all files and digital CD playback until the computer is restarted.

(4) CDDB crashes the system with a blue screen when accessed from my HP drive.

This drive has always worked fine.  Something in the builds must've changed, because it still works with other programs.

I keep posting these same bugs build after build and no one seems to care Next Page

Still in 8.0.272beta
Still in 8.0.270beta
Still in 8.0.267beta
Still in 8.0.266beta
Bug in 8.0.265beta - CD names not shown correctly

Still the process of reading the content of MP3 CDs is not real good. If
a CD, that shows up in the explorer as 'Complete_CDs_01', is read, the
section File Location shows (0x5601E92A) and the section CD and DVD media a
CD named 'unassigned'. If I add mores CDs, it still shows a single
'unassigned' folder instead of the real name of the CD. Out of 5 CDs
'Complete_CDs_01' through 'Complete_CDs_05' only the last showed with
correct name under CD and DVD media.

To show the content of a specific CD is therefore not straight forward!

Can this be changed?

My system: NT 4.0 with all SPs, 500 Mhz PIII, 198MB RAM

Since 6-7 build, as said in my previous post, if I left click on 'GO Start' (it was 'Home' when working) in the tree I get an Internet Explorer error that translating say:
Impossible to find "D:\J River\Media Juke\Data\WebPages\HomePage\index.htm". Verify that Internet address will be correct.
If I right click on GO Start and Update Web Pages, MJ download web pages that I found at that above address, but with the same error.
In Regedit, trying to correct the address, seems not present that pages I found in D:\J River\Media Juke\Data\WebPages\HomePage\index.htm.

Bugs

Visualizations : Ever since introducing the Dispaly Quality menu, dynamic adjustment of vis scaling based on display window size has been lost. Because of this, we can't get good performance in MEGA-ME and good display quality in mini-me without having to manually adjust it.

MEGA-ME Skinning : Resizing Statistics shows flashes of the transparent color (Green Eyes skin - upper right hand corner of Stats window as you shrink it).

Download Manager : If I start DM from MJ's Tools menu, or from it's Start Menu Shortcut, and I'm not connected to the internet, I get the "Unable to find phonebook entry" error message. This doesn't happen on Windows Startup because of the /WinStartup switch. I could edit the shortcut in the Start Menu manually, but I obviously can't do that with the DM option in MJ's Tools menu.

Haven't actually confirmed whether or not this one is still there, but I didn't see it listed as Fixed so :
CD Rip : When viewing the log for Digital Secure, if I select a section and hit "Play Selection", MJ always just says "Please Select Files To Play"

Display (Track Info) : If "Enable Scroll Bars" is on, "Auto-Hide Bars" is on, and "Resize Display for Bars" is off, then you can't get to the horizontal scroll bar. Perhaps "Resize Display for Bars" should be always on for Track Info when "Enable Scroll Bars" is on?

mini-me : Right Click menu (not the display menu) is "clicking through" (as I better described in the other thread).

What happened to the Drop Target tooltip?

Just in case the developers are only looking at replies to beta posts these days, I'm copying my WMA bug report here:

This bug applies to every version of MJ I've tried, including 7.2 through 8.0.272:
When ripping a CD in WMA, MJ loses about a second of data at the end of a track that runs into the next track. For example, at the beginning of the classic Little Feat live album, "Waiting for Columbus", the announcer says "F-E-A-T! Please welcome Little Feat". Actually, the words "F-E-A-T! Please welcome" are at the end of the first track ("Join the Band") and the words "Little Feat" are at the beginning of the second track ("Fat Man in the Bathtub"). If the CD is ripped in WMA, the words "Please welcome" are lost and there's a nasty gap between the two tracks (you hear "F-E-A-T ittle Feat".) Oddly, the CD track time for Join the Band is 1:24, while the ripped version lists as 1:25 (seems backwards, eh?)

However, if the CD is ripped in MP3, data is not lost. By setting the inter-track cross-fade to smooth and a gap of .1 sec, I can *almost* eliminate the inter-track gap in the MP3 version. There's just a slight click between the words "welcome" and "Little Feat". Not as smooth as direct from the CD, though -- there ought to be a default setting that makes it so (sorry, I guess that's a different bug.)

I've also detected this on the Beatles Anthology Volume 1. On this album, there are some tracks with a Beatle telling a story about the next track. The tracks are intendes to run together, but MJ loses about a second of the speech track when ripping in WMA. I haven't noticed this so much on classical CDs, where you would expect a lot of run-together tracks, but it could be because I wasn't paying attention.

Since I just finished ripping 385 CDs in 160-kbps WMA, it would be nice if you could fix this bug. I'd like to go back and re-rip the bad tracks.

Still have freezing problems updating file properties when 'Renaming file from properties'.  I've seen unstable behavior in this function for many v8 betas.

dick> If you want gapless playback of ripped CD's, WMA isn't the answer. MP3 isn't really much better. If you want true gapless, you should use EAC to rip your CD's as one giant track, and create a cue sheet to create the individual tracks. I use APE and APL for this.

Have you tried ripping these same CD's in WMP to see if the same problem shows up? It may not be MJ causing the problem. It may just be Microsoft's WMA encoder.

Hi ZRocker,

You are right.  Ctrl-A works fine if I disable the Mega-Me skins.
It is a skin issue after all.

This seems to be the most stable build yet on my system.  I wasn't able to select more than 50 files for editing properties and could never complete a replay gain analysis on more than 20 or so files without MJ crashing in prior builds. I'm now able to queue up at least 1,000 files without a crash! Terrific progress!

I think the problems may occur when there is already a file of the same name as the proposed rename.  The dialog comes up as expected, and I click 'overwrite', but I think it somehow causes a problem later (in the library database, maybe?).  Does it remove the second file entry in the library?

Bug:
1. Build a Playing Now playlist with 10 non-imported tracks. Then add another 10 or so already imported tracks to the Playing Now playlist.  Start playback on track # 1 in playlist.  Stop playback.  Shift|PLS|Del the 10 non-imported tracks from the Playing Now playlist (to avoid the MJ crash bug).  Now, Playing Now is messed up...look at the Seq column for the remaining tracks...starts at # 10 (at this point Playing Now is lost).  Try to play the last file in the Playing Now playlist...you'll get a 'Please select files to play' popup error dialog.

1. If you press ESC while renaming CD burn virtual folders, your changed folder info it NOT discarded...your changes are saved as if you pressed Enter.

I haven't had a chance to test this again, but with .270 I noticed that DM wasn't downloading certain files to the right location. Even though I had .exe and .zip set for a custom download path, it kept downloading to the default path.

Ouch!
Saw this one a couple of minutes ago:
1. Sorted "Playing now" after Artist, Album, Track#, Name. (As said before, like having it this way Next Page)
2. Selected a couple of tracks, stopped playing and pressed Shift-Delete to be able to trash them from the harddrive
3. Re-sorted the files in the above order (MJ likes to sort the list by Seq after this kind of operation)
4. Double-clicked on a song, just to hear a completely different one! For instance, tried to play Cat stevens - Father & Son but MJ Played "A Tribe Called Quest - Excursions" (the first one on the list (by Seq)) instead.

Clicking on Media Library, back to Playing now, and re-sort, worked though, so now is no problems anymore....until next time I do the same procedure! Next Page
