TV Series and Date
« on: January 31, 2012, 05:44:21 am »

Should MC be pulling a date from TheTVDb? It seems to be leaving the field entry.

It would be nice if MC could pull the "First Aired" field for episodes and save to the [Date] field.
Sometimes it's cool to know when an episode was first broadcast. Although it does make me feel a bit old... :)

Some other fields stored in the episode record on TheTVDb which MC doesn't make use of are:
  - Guest Stars
  - Writer (edit: goes in Screenwriter field, nice!)
  - IMDb.com ID

Would it be possible to store these too on TV lookup?

I would like this as well. Date aired is most important.

Agreed.  Original Airing Date is what I care about.

+1 to the above.

I would also like the rating.  (doubly so for movies where the tmdb and both rottentomatoes ratings would ideally be brought in, ratings help others navigate my library).

thanks

Definte +1 here too. I was fairly surprised it didn't download the date. This sort of seems like an oversight really...

I recently switched to using theater view for my htpc instead of WMC with mediabrowser. I've been pleased for the most part but not having original air date kind of sucks.

Also it doesn't seem to get genre from TVDB either. This isn't too important to me though but would be nice to have.

Would love to see this in MC 17.  This is one of the reasons I'm still using Windows Media Center with Recordedtv HD and Mediabrowser.

Also really love the marking of the commercials in the scroll bar with Recorded Hd and the handling of watched shows.

This would be a great feature!

Let's not call this a feature request. 'Originally Aired'—or more generically, 'Release Date'—is an important element of meta data for video in general, and critical for series. That it wasn't included in the first place is an oversight, hopefully fixed soon.
