Why does my name not appear on the 'About-Tab'?

You may have a 7.x license.  It works with 8.0, but it won't tell you what your name is.  Next build will say something different.

That's an old 8.0 license and it can be converted.  You should have received e-mail from gateley @ jriver.com about this.

How come ive sent an email to gateley@jriver.com about my old liscense that needed converting and asked numerous people about it and no one has responded with so much as "get bent" or anything else for that matter since ive contacted. I mean I guess its no big deal until my 30 days on the trial version runs out...but id sort of like to go ahead and get this liscense thing straightened out so i dont have to worry about it later.

well i remember in an earlier thread that Jim had told someone to send an email to gateley @ jriver.com and explain everything to him and he would get back to you. Guess that was something else maybe

In version 272 I get Registered To: John Gateley.

Version 8.0.272 Plus. Still registered to nobody at the bottom of "Help" "About Media Jukebox". "Restore License" is grayed out.

Could this have anything to do with the "necessary file" failure mentioned in 8.0.270 bug thread?

at the end of the install "after reboot" an error message reports that a "necessary file" was not installed --- regcontrol.dll

You bought the "old style" version 8 license. Did you receive an email with a registration code to update to the "new style" version 8 license?
As long as "restore license" is greyed out, you have a valid license installed so the regcontrol.dll must be working properly.

Yes, I updated the license to the "new" Style with the email code. As long as things work, I'm not worried. It STILL is blank in the "registered to" box.
