I found this solution in the IE newsgroup and am posting it here in case anyone else starts to experience this problem.  

>To all those people who were suddenly experiencing the 'Blank/Transparent'window when a popup or Hyperlink was selected.  If the various fixes detailed within this newsgroup don't work then try downloading and installing IE 6.0 SP1 Beta330 from:
