M2Tech Hiface
« on: February 18, 2012, 02:01:51 pm »

Right now I have a cheap soundcard with an optical SPDIF connected to my HT Receiver. It does an ok job but I am thinking of upgrading to an M2Tech Hiface (the coaxial version) I'm just wondering if anyone here is or has used one with J River Media Center. Any opinions?

It is a great little device for extracting bit perfect digital via USB.  Dont hesitate.

VERY popular with the "Mac-and-DAC" crowd with high-end systems.

Works fine with WASAPI - Event Style on W7. It was originally $150, still good at $200 but not the deal it was originally.

Alternately, depending on the DACs in your receiver, you can look at the HRT Streamer II and II+ and feed analog into your receiver.

You can get either with a 30 day return.

Would someone know if there is much difference betweent the highface 1 and the new two?

My portable computer plays 3 d very well, but as my receiver not handle it, I have no sound, only stereo, through analog output.  So if I use this key, I output even the HD sound, that would go directly to my receiver, while the hdmi feeds the projector.
