/MonitorSwitch syntax?
« on: February 24, 2012, 06:56:36 am »

Anyone know what a valid monitorswitch command line looks like?

I tried this according to the Wiki

mc17 /mode Theater /Monitorswitch display1:1024x768

It DOES go into theater mode, but at full resolution (I'd looking to force theater mode to a smaller window size to help in debugging a skin I'm working on for a small size display, but debug it on a large widescreen)

I think your example may be missing the bitdepth and refresh rate parameters.

MonitorSwitch and SoundcardSwitch are self-documenting.  So run these commands and read the message:
MC17.exe /MonitorSwitch
MC17.exe /SoundcardSwitch

If you're flipping between two monitors, this is useful:
MC17.exe /MonitorToggle

HI Matt

Thanks for the reply. Did not know about the command line help like that. I might suggest that info should also be on the Wiki, but at least I know where to find it now.

In my case I'm not toggling monitors

I have a jukebox that has a 1024x768 touchscreen in it, but it'd be a pain to build a skin on that box, so I'm building the skin on my workstation, but it runs a big Dell 24" monitor, so the screen sizes (even aspect ratio) don't match up.

But I just realized that I can easily switch my second screen (a 22" dell widescreen) into 1024x768 mode so I can edit things on my main screen and test it out on my secondary screen without too much hassle.

I think it'd be nice (but maybe a tad esoteric) to be able to specify the screen size to run theater mode in, so you could be easily build skins. Maybe one for the back burner?

FYI: It is already there.

True, but the help from the command line is much more complete, and includes examples and a description of the Display number, etc. That Wiki page exists, but it's not enough to actually explain how you'd use the switch.

Sure, but it also says:

"Use /MonitorSwitch without arguments for usage information."
