Handheld syncing issues.
« on: February 21, 2012, 12:56:50 pm »

I use a pc connected my server's MC17 library. Most of my music is CD's ripped as a single flac or DJ livesets, many of which are 2+ hours long 320kbs mp3. When syncing to my handheld, I have flac's and high bitrate mp3 converted to V2 mp3. Apparently, conversion is handled by the server which is fine except that it performs 3 simultaneous conversions during syncing and I don't see any way to change it. It takes a long time to convert a 2+ hour file, let alone three at a time and the local MC17 errors out. From that point on, everything errors (times?) out. Can we get a dialog to change the number of simultaneous conversions on the server and do something about the time out?

This is an interesting problem.

If you use custom encoding settings, the server can't provide even the first byte until the conversion finishes.

And the downloader probably has a 60 second timeout when trying to read the first byte.

Let us think on this one a bit.

I meant "high", not "V2". I using the built in encoder.

We upped the time-out enough that it shouldn't happen anymore.
