Searching for required components
« on: March 15, 2012, 07:49:01 am »

After updating to this new build, videos that previously played now result in the message "searching for required components".

This is terrible when one is lacking an internet connection!!!!

Especially since prior to departing home I spent great deal of time clicked on numerous video files to insure the previous MC build would have the 'required components' at hand when I was without internet.

Can a "Required Components" package be made available for download so as to avoid the need for an internet connection when playing later?

I'd really rather use MC for all my media and not go back to a separate software program for video, but VLC plays them without this issue.

Jim,
I do not understand why you split this when worked in the last build and it appeared with the new build, either a change or a bug I suspect, and you left no response or clue.   ?

I will return here when I next have an internet connection, perhaps a day or two.

You can download madVR and LAV-Filters from doom9.org in zip-format and put them to usb-stick (or your HDD...) and when you do not have internet connection, you can copy the folders to %appdata%/Roaming/JRiver/Media Center 17/Plugins and register them... Then you do not need to connect to internet when playing files... (And you can get newest filters ja madVR working with every version ;) )

Thanks Samuel

Can anyone tell me if I will need to do this with each new build of MC?

As I stated I had the ability to play these before the last update.

You have to this every time, because JRiver clears the old versions from the plugins-folder... That is why I suggested that you go some public computer and download them to usb-stick and them from it every time you upgrade JRiver (or madVR or LAV...).

Thanks once again Samuel, I got it now.

JRiver people, is there a reason you do not provide these components with updated builds?
I imagine I am not the only person who does not have internet 24/7/365.

I think that would be a good idea to include all of the needed components in a single JRvier update/download. The JRiver program is around 20MB, and the LAV and MADVR are around 5MB each.
I don't think a 30MB download versus a 20MB is going to be an issue for anyone.
