Norton false positive
« on: March 16, 2012, 01:12:51 am »

I know this is a false positive but thought I'd just bring it to JRiver attention that the site was flagged on Norton DNS for some reason.

I heard this by email from another user as well.

It's a false positive, and my understanding is that Norton has since fixed their problem.

Site was fine earlier today. I just got back home tonight though and it was blocked again. Not sure why they keep blocking this site.

At the moment Norton's Safe Web seems to warn about the whole jriver.com domain, not just yabb.

Perhaps you could sue them. You could claim $1,000,000 for spreading false information and causing damage to your business... Isn't that a common practice in the US?  ;D

Downloaded and installed trial version, and am now wondering what I've done.

Screen capture of Norton warning attached.

It is a False Positive by Norton, and has been reported.  Safe to use.  If you're unsure, you can download the file and test it here:

Hi Guys,

Are you aware that Norton Internet Security is reporting your site as a "Malicious Web Site". (Is it true?)

This is a known malicious web site. It is recommended that you do NOT visit this site. The detailed report explains the security risks on this site.

For your protection, this web site has been blocked. Visit Symantec to learn more about phishing and internet security.

I think this is the third thread about this issue. Here is one of the earlier: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=70874.msg478535#msg478535

Jim & bob, did they reply?

If I had a business site and it would be falsely listed as malicious and blocked, I would not give them more than 24h or so to fix the issue. After that my lawyer would handle the case. I would consider such listing as a malicious attack against my business and probably I would demand a public apology and my revenue loss to be compensated.

Neverthless, before contacting my lawyer, I would really do a thorough test of my site to make 500% double darn sure that is is absolutely squeeky clean  ;-)

The files are on Amazon's S3 server.  We did take a look.  And the last time anything changed on the server was more than a year ago.

This is apparently solved now.

This was a Norton problem.  There were no problems with our site.
