How to sort audio views
« on: April 07, 2012, 06:13:37 am »

I have a number of Views under Audio which are in haphazard order. How can they be sorted or rearranged? I've tried dragging them, but then the movable view will end up as a child inside another view. If I drag them up to Audio, they jump back to their original position. Thanks. Guy Foster

Customize View > Set rule for file display
Modify the sort

I think he is asking how to reorder the tree.

Hi. Sorry, I didn't make my request clear enough. On my Main Screen, at the left is a column, with Audio, Images, Video etc. It's the Audio that I'm concerned with. Under Audio I have a number of View Schemes that I have created: Albums, Collections, Composers, Artists, Musical Forms, Shelf Numbers, Edit Tags, Periods, etc. for a large classical music collection. Currently this is the order in which they appear, an unsorted order. I want to sort them so they will appear under Audio as: Albums, Artists, Collections, Composers, Edit Tags, Musical Forms, Periods, Shelf Numbers. It's not a big point, but my orderly compulsions would like a sorted order.

As I said above, I've tried moving them, but I can't drag them and insert them between two other View Schemes (the one I'm dragging becomes a child of another View Scheme). There is a Sort option, of course, for sorting within a particular View Scheme, but how do I get the Audio category itself to sort its children?

Thanks for your response and apologies for not making my request clear the first time round. Guy

Customize View...

Automatic mode is alphabetic, so naming judiciously will work.

Otherwise, use the Top or Bottom choices.

You did but I simply misread it. Sorry
