What is the first version you worked with? I remember version 5 or 6 was my first version. I believe one of them ran on Windows 3.1 but I can't remember for sure. My first purchase was media Jukebox 8 and I've stuck with it ever since.

Wasn't it for MJ6 or 7 there was a feature vote page? Listed user submitted feature requests with user votes. I thought that was a great idea and well ahead of time including the community in the development of their products.

I thought it would be cool to have a few screenshots throughout the years. It's also funny to read some of the reviews and user comments. What struck me was that throughout the versions, CNET has been consistently giving 2 stars, while users are giving 3 or 4 stars. I never liked CNET reviews and this confirms it :D.

Version 5 (1999)

Version 6 (2000) in a review called "The Mother of all media Players" :P

If someone can find better pictures of version 7 and 8 that would be cool.
Version 7 (2001)

Version 8 (2002)

version 9

Look! It's got coverart!

if you have more/better screenshots, maybe of even older versions that would be awesome! Share the heritage!

Thanks for the fun thread.

Bonus points if anyone can dig up a screenshot of the Bamboo skin.  Or the very early Theater View.

Of course, v1 could import and play music.  It makes me wonder what we've been doing all these years :P

If version 5 looked like that, we gotta see what version 1 looked like. Anyone have a V1 screenshot?

I'm pretty sure v6 was the first one I tried.  I kept testing it with each new major version.

Didn't click buy till v8 or v9 though.  I always liked the functionality but I was wishy-washy about some of the design language (cough...surfing...cough...jukebox).  I just wanted something that looked nicer for display in the living room, and I'd also always hated the look of WinAMP.

MJ/MC got better (dramatically with v9, IMHO) and simultaneously Real threw RealJukebox in the toilet, became evil, and made the steaming pile of fail called RealOne, which motivated me to switch.

Up until recently, I had it installed on one of my machines.

It still works.  I think you need to use compatibility mode in Windows, and it complains about some stuff, but it'll play music.

I don't know if it is cool to do this (Jim, delete it if not), but...

EDIT:  Ahh... Can't get it to install.  Perhaps it was on my laptop, which was running a 32-bit version of Windows until a while back.

I'm thinking that in 97 those numbers had more to do with ICE than MC.

That Bamboo skin is epic! Someone needs to port that to MC17. :D

I still have Vm's running DOS, Windows 3.11 and OS/2. I'll try that version Glynor see if I can make some cool screenies of it.
