Dragging MC17 window between monitors
« on: April 30, 2012, 11:47:52 am »

This might sound as a rather trivial thing and wonder if there is an easy fix.

I use 2 monitors and often drag windows between monitors.  Many newer programs allow you to simply drag a fully opened window between monitors by simply grabbing onto the top of the window and to simply drag the window across screens.  For MC, you must double click to make the full screen window into a smaller window after which you can drag the window to the second monitor and you then have to maximize the window again.

Trivial problem but a slight annoyance.

Are you saying that other apps allow dragging a full screen app to the second monitor? I've tried with 5 apps now, and non can do that. I can't really make any programs go full screen over two screens either, but that might be the fact that I have different resolution on both?

Most windows 7 pgms allow dragging maximized windows between monitors without having to click anything.

My guess is that it is related to different resolutions or older version of software (e.g., office 2010 allows dragging while office 2003 does not)

I tried with Office 2010. Did just not get what you wanted exactly. I thought you wanted to drag the app to cover both monitors. Which is not normal for many applications I think. I managed to move a full screen app from one monitor to another, without going out of full screen, and I guess that is what you really want. Not something I personally have much use for, but that does not mean it can't be useful for others.

Yes... dragging between monitors, not extending across 2 monitors

It is because of MC's custom skin UI, I suspect.

My suggestion doesn't really solve your problem, but it would make you not care anymore.  If you have two monitors (or more), you should really at least try out UltraMon.

Assign a keyboard shortcut to the Move Window commands (I like Control+Alt+Left/Right Arrow keys) and you'll never care again.

PS.  I use UltraMon, but I've been meaning to try out DisplayFusion for a long while too.  You might want to try both, they're similar.  It seems like DisplayFusion gets a bit better support and more frequent updates.  I'm not sure which is more powerful...

thanks for the suggestion.  I for one would prefer to see this work within MC rather than having to use additional apps.

I will, however, look into those programs.

i did not know you could drag maximised apps, will have to try this, as I would find it useful on browsers and mediaplayers and the like.

For JR, I use theatre on the TV and all other views on the PC screen anyway.
