Gizmo View Builder Request
« on: April 23, 2012, 06:25:52 am »

Most of my Gizmo views are direct copys of my theatre view setup, with a couple taken out of my normal view schemes.

It's very time consuming to set these up in the first place and that follows on when you make tweaks as you have to tweak your normal view, theatre view and gizmo seperatly..

Would it be a possibility to make a dialouge that is akin to the one that allows you to place buttons on the main interface,

On the left side you could have a drop down panel that allows you to pick root views i.e the Audio or Video on the main interface. You could also choose views from Gizmo and Theatre view as well. Then once selected in the pane below mc would generate all the sub views within that root.

Then on the right pane you could again select any root view and copy the views you want from the left to the right..

I'm unsure as whether these operations would be better as one time only events to copy a view from one area to another or if they the view that has obainted a copy would remember this..

So for instance I could copy my Albums view from my main interface to Gizmo, but if I ever made any changes to my Albums view that it would just filter through to Gizmo too..

I'm swaying more towards a one time copy event as I think the other way could over complicate things..

As I've basically finished setting up all my views this would be good tweaking but I could imagine it would ease the burden a little on newer users..

Thanks

When setting up Gizmo or THeatre view, I always use "use scheme from standard view" or whatever that option is called.
How suprised was I to discover that they weren't linked: a change to the standard view scheme did not also update the Theatre View or Gizmo view even though they are using the same scheme.

So if what is being asked for above can't be implemented, could the schemes from the standard view that are being used in Gizmo and Theatre view be linked somehow?

Although I would much prefer right-clicking on my views in standard mode and having an option to Add to Gizmo or Add to Theatre view with a flyout that lets you place it under the available menu items.
