I just noticed this today... Suddenly now both the Convert Format and Analyze Audio commands are grayed out when you are on a client copy of MC.  This is definitely new, as I use the Convert Format function from a Client copy of MC as part of my podcast creation workflow at the office.  I went to do a new one yesterday, and discovered I couldn't do it anymore.

I don't really care about Analyze Audio (though that seems silly too), but I do care about Convert Format.  I do that all the time, and it always worked perfectly.

I can imagine these functions don't work if you do not have local access to the files (like a network drive) when you are on a Client.  But when you do, it always worked fine (and I almost always do have direct access, even if it is via VPN).

I imagine this is related to all of this stuff, and the database changes that initiated it.
