After creating the new base folder in Windows Explorer, like "C:\JMusic", to where I will restore all the files that I have on the external hard drive as backups. if my musics are all there (unfortunately I kept ripping more CDs after the backup and they were not backed up to the same hard drive, just inside MC: Yesterday I did backup, anticipating your suggestion), I am all set.
See Step 3 in my previous post.
> But if they are not all there, what happens if I remove all my files from the MC library?
> Am I not going to loose all files I already have there, including the ones that I have ripped
> since I did the backup to the external drive?
See Step 4 in my previous post. If you want to restore the MC database to use the files in the "C:\users\Joao Urbano\Music” folder, you can us that backup of the MC database..
I specified that you click on the first option "remove from library". This option does not erase the music files themselves.

The step by step process I gave you will import your flac files from c:\Music" in the MC database.
Remember that there are several ways to get music files listed in the MC database. You can rip CDs and the files that are created will be in the database. You can import existing music files.
> Yestarday, looking to my MC library, I found more albums with one track in one, another track in another track and another
> containing the remaining tracks.
This sentence seems rather scrambled. Do you mean that tracks from the same CD or downloaded equivalent to a CD have different album values?
A basic idea: If you don't like the tag values that MC has stored in its database for a track, you can change those values.
> They were presented as three albums, eatch one with the same cover and were imported from HDTracks.
As Jim explained, each Flac file has a set of tag values for Artist, Album and other tags stored in the MC database. If the files for the tracks from one CD or one downloaded album have different values for the Artist tag or the Album tag, MC will, display the tracks as though they came from different sources.
> Just to check if someting wrong wwas in the album, I removed it from the disc and baught another one.
> I imported it to MC with the same result.
You are jumping to conclusions and causing yourself extra work and expense.
> Besides this one, I have several more with the same problem How can I correct the situation and moove the tracks to thw main album?
You can edit tag values in MC. If you don't know how, you should first look at the MC help (a WiKi) and then ask questions on the forum.
> And how can I avoid future situations of the same type?
When you rip a CD, examine the tag values that MC retrieves from its online tag database before you start ripping the CD. Change any values you don't like before you start ripping the CD. You can change tag values later but it avoids confusion if you get the tags right before they are added to the library database.
When you manually import files, look at the tags values MC took from those files (in the recently imported view.) Change any values you don't want at that time. (I do not recommend using auto-import until you understand how MC works better than you do now.)
> With all this I forgot to ask you for your hand. Is it a kind of tendinites?
I've had tendinitis for over 20 years. Now nerves in my neck are causing my muscles in my hands, arms and legs to contract.
> I hope you get cured soon.
I've been through physical therapy with some improvement in the level of pain when I am not using my hands. I am still not able to use my hands without pain.
> Another issue, at least as I understand it, may be to run out of space on my Laptop
You can resolve this issue yourself. You can use Windows Explorer to see how much disk space is used by the "C:\users\Joao Urbano\Music” folder. You can use Windows Explorer to see how much free disk space you have on your laptop.
I have tried to keep my comments as simple and focused as I could. I have not addressed every possible complication because I felt it would make it more difficult for you to understand what I was suggesting.

I believe that your problems are at least in part a result of your limited understanding of how MC or any other music player software works. I believe that your skills in using Windows may also be somewhat limited. That makes your descriptions of your problem an unreliable basis for me or Jim to offer help in solving your problem. You will have a much more successful experience using a PC to play music if you understand the concepts on which such software is based.
I'm going to leave this thread to Jim and others.
