Album Artist (Auto) Pane
« on: August 16, 2012, 04:44:19 am »

Hi there

I have recently got Media Center 17, after having used Media Jukebox 12 for some time.  One of the great things I liked about v12 was the Album Artist (Auto) pane.  It always put albums with multiple artists into the automatic (Multiple Artists) category. MC17 only ever does this occasionally.  Is there some setting that allows this to happen all the time?

Take a look at one case:

   1) Where are the tracks located on disk?
   2) What are the exact fields for Album, Artist and Album Artist for each track?

For one example I have:
Contributing Artist: Red Hot Chili Peppers;
Album Artist: Best of Punk Rock (Pop from the Nineties)
Album: Best of Punk Rock (Pop from the Nineties)

In Media Jukebox 12, when there was a contributing artist, it would put the entry into (Multiple Artists).

I have now tried updating the tag to make the album artist blank, but it still doesn't put the album into multiple artists

MC's default grouping for artists will use Album Artist (auto).  If you want a Multiple Artists album, clear the Album Artist values for an album, and set Artist values for each track to the track artists.

Also, please confirm that all the tracks for the album are in the same directory (I was trying to determine the answer to question #1).
