Using DLNA to stream to TV
« on: June 22, 2012, 04:10:52 pm »

Hi,

I've just convinced a friend to buy the JRiver software to set up his home network and we're having some problems. The Media Center software is installed and is working perfectly. We've set-up the software to act as a server and we can see his DLNA enabled TV (a SONY Bravia) in the list of devices. From the TV we can see the Media Server. So far so good.

We can navigate the server from the TV and show still images and play audio but cannot see any of the movies that are on the server. When we select the 'Send to' option from the PC we can send the audio and images without problem but always get an error when trying to send video 'There was a problem controlling the selected DLNA device.'

We've even tried using Gizmo and the WebGizmo to control everything and get the same result - audio and stills OK, video won't play.

We've tried MKV and AVI video files too.

Can anyone suggest what we might be doing wrong?

Thanks,
Martin.

Delete the existing "generic DLNA" server and add a new one using the Sony BD/TV template.

A bit off topic, but I can't wait for a DLNA profile for Apple devices  :)

Audio and images already work well with iMediaShare, but video is not compatible.
