hard drive pooling?
« on: July 01, 2012, 10:07:52 pm »

hello,

new to this forum. searched and searched and couldn't find answer to my question.

have used Beyondtv4 for quite some time now for ota atsc recordings, using xp32 home edition.

it works great, but is not being supported by Snapstream any more.

looking for replacement and want to move to Win7 64bit, and JriverMC looks impressive.

the deal breaker on most pvr software is the lack of "drive pooling" which Btv4 does beautifully.

the big ? is does MC do drive pooling?? that is automatic switching of recording destinations on multiple disks

also is epg free or is it extra cost like MythTV?

system specs:

intel QX6700 cpu
Gigabyte p45-ud3p MB
4GB corsair ddr2-6400 ram
seagate 80GB OS drive
2 x 2TB wd av-gp HD's
WinXP 32 bit

thank you. sorry if these are newbie questions.

Welcome to MC!  MC abstracks the drive from the user in that you could have tracks stored in :
G:\Music\Track1.mp3
H:\Music\Track2.mp3

....and the user in MC would just see Track1, Track2 etc

If you prefer (as I do) for drive pooling at the OS level you may want to checkout http://www.drivebender.com/  more discussion in this thread... http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=72756.0
