Converting unsupported formats when transferring to iPod?
« on: July 03, 2012, 03:11:24 am »

When i transfer playlists to my iPod i select the playlist & then use 'export to iPod' but is there a way to convert unsupported formats (like FLAC) in the same way that you can when transfering to smartphones?
(it automatically converts for you when transferring)

Also, is there a way for my JRiver ratings to transfer to the iPod?

Thanks :)

I always just drag and drop playlists and have 'always convert' selected.
Since very recent I convert to ALAC. And you know what, that works better then the native mp3 conversion  ;D

Don't know how to transfer ratings to the iPod. I also wonder if the iPod's can do something with it  ?

Sorry, I doublechecked. Ratings are transferred to the iPod.
You can see them when you play a song. Don't know how to select them. You know like play all 5 stars.

Only way I can think of is via a playlist!

cool thanks for the reply

i've been 'exporting to iPod/iTunes' rather than dragging the playlists, ill give that a go next time, i presume that the iPod should show under 'devices'...

maybe this is why i havent been getting ratings aswell

YES, it appears under 'Drives & Devices'.

Just rename it into something comfortable. Select 'always convert' and the rest of the things you want and just drag and drop your playlists.

I tried this & the files still don't convert when using an external encoder for some reason... ill just use 'uncompressed wav' inbuilt MC encoder rather than using sox.exe (external encoder) for flac to aiff lossless conversion
