DSD (DFF) Playback problem
« on: August 21, 2012, 11:03:23 pm »

I have a bunchs of SACD rips that I am trying play back using JRiver. It appears to work fine. Few seconds buffering and off I go. Then about every 30 seconds, the music stops for 10 seconds or so and starts buffering again. After a while play resumes. Am I running out of memory? What setting do I need to change? I have a CAPS 2.0 with 4GB memory - this should not be a problem at all. Please help me out here!

Welcome.

If your DSD files are DST compressed, you need a fast CPU.

Ideally you'll want over a 2000 JRMark (Help > Benchmark inside Media Center).

If they're not compressed, you just need a drive that's fast enough (so not a slow wifi connection).

I googled a solution. Obviously my CAPS 2.0 is not up to snuff speedwise. I set resolution to 88/24 and don't have a problem anymore. Sound is good enough for me. Thanks.
