Right Click Tray Icon Crash
« on: September 28, 2012, 04:12:34 pm »

Does anyone else find that right clicking the MC18 system tray icon is causing MC to crash?

Mine doesn't. You are not alone though, as I've recently read a similar post from someone else that made me think of you and your long running woes in this regard. I'm sure it was in the other forum, but couldn't find it again. My curiosity is well piqued... can't to find out what the conflict is...

EDIT: It was rpalmer, in the build 51 thread. Perhaps you guys could get together and compare notes?

I can also report mine does not crash when you right click.

I'll assume you've done all the normal "uninstall, reboot, reinstall" stuff.

You may also want to make sure video/audio drivers are up to date.

Sorry, this is all typical generic PC troubleshooting, but sometimes it works.

I've got about 5 different machines it happens across.  The only thing in common with them is they're all Dells of varying ages from 4 years to 2 months old.  Some of them completely clean installs of Windows.
I'm baffled how other people aren't running into it!
I'd test it against a non dell machine.  However it's the one thing I don't have.

Thanks for the report anyhow!

I've made progress!

The issue seems to go away if you're in an audio view.

Having pages like the start page visible or the drives and devices page visible stops right click from working.  Or at least it does here.

Does here too. Great detective work.

There's more to it.  Even simply having a Start Tab open will cause the issue.
In my case I had two start tabs open, and one tab on Audio still the right click didn't work.

AH! I'll have to try this out when I get home. I generally only use Media Center for audio. Could explain it.
