Except for being platform dependent...
When you're a Linux user (like me) and thus left in cold by HDtracks, you can however get the Windows version working. See my article Using the JRiver HDtracks downloader on Linux (Ubuntu/Debian).

I've been trying for hours to get my tracks downloaded.
I did try on an old Imac that I have lying around. That osx downloader will only download AIFF however, which is useless to me... even though my hdtracks account is set to prefer FLAC.
ronalde: thanks for the linux hack... I'm still having a problem with the wine solution, though it seems the crypto fix works.
Error looks like this:
fixme:wininet:query_global_option INTERNET_OPTION_CONNECTED_STATE: semi-stub
fixme:wininet:InternetSetOptionW INTERNET_OPTION_SEND/RECEIVE_TIMEOUT/DATA_SEND_TIMEOUT 20000
I think that wine has no access to my internet device? Do you know how to fix it, I'm no wine/windows expert.
thanks -bruce.
JimH:
I believe the old downloader (not from JRiver) still works on Linux. And HDtracks has a Mac version of our downloader on their site.
waltonb:
Hi.. thanks for reply.
The downloader auto-selects AIFF, even though my account profile is set to prefer FLAC.
Not sure where to change that behavior.
I know this is off-topic for this thread, I have asked for support at hdtracks.
best -bruce.
JimH:
If it does, then it may not be the most current version available.
