Rocky Mountain Audio Fest (RMAF)
« on: October 02, 2012, 05:30:59 pm »

Matt mentioned a few weeks ago he was planning a trip to RMAF. Is anyone from Interact going? I went a few years ago and would like to go again, but my wife has banned me from audio events.  :)

Matt, what are planning on doing at RMAF? Are you visiting with DAC vendors used by JRiver users (Mytek, Lynx)? Maybe some here could offer suggestions that would help JRiver.

Matt, what are planning on doing at RMAF?

I've been meaning to post in a little more official way to invite any users to come to the show.

I'm on a panel Saturday about DSD and another Sunday about DLNA.

Otherwise I'll be wandering the floor.

Doing shows is a new thing for me, but the last one I did was great.

In day-to-day life, I almost never bump into anybody that uses JRiver.  So it's really fun to go to a place where a bunch of people know (and some even like!) what we do.

Danny Richie (GR-Research) has some new speakers you should check out. He is a nice guy and designed the speakers I am currently building. He uses a Mac. Maybe he could try JRiver when it becomes available for a Mac.

I've enjoyed following Tyson and Pez's live coverage (at Audiocircle) the past few years. This year it looks like they will be posting and uploading photos directly from each room. By the way, The Discless Circle subforum at Audiocircle has JRiver mentioned or discussed fairly often.

You should take a laptop with JRiver and a borrowed exaSound e20 and ask to hook it up to some systems. Some companies/reps/owners like to hang around after show hours and try different stuff in their room. You could do a DSD and JRiver demo. You could even announce it during the DSD panel discussion and see if anyone will take you up on your offer.

There are usually guys from different forums such as Audiocircle, AVS, What's Best Forum, and many others that get together for a meal. Maybe you could join them.

There are many rooms where several vendors combine to share the price. For example, the GR-Research room includes:
Danny Richie of GR-Research (speakers)
Gary Dodd of Dodd Audio (amps)
Dave Elledge of Pi Audio Group (power conditioning & cables)
Eric Hider of dB Audio Labs (DAC)
Pete of Triode Wire Labs (power cords)

Perhaps next year JRiver could provide a computer/JRiver for some of the rooms.

I posted a little more formal thread on RMAF here:

I agree it'd be neat for JRiver to get a room at the show.  We might do that in a year or two.

I'm going to close this thread now.
