Audiolab M-DAC
« on: October 16, 2012, 03:49:27 pm »

Since there is no specific USB ASIO driver, what'sthe recommended connection: USB native driver using what output mode (WASAPI Event was full of clicks and wouldnt switch from 24/96 to 16/44, suggested resampling to 24/44). Works OK on optical WASAPI-Event though, but I lose an optical input, and the USB is wasted.

The other disater to befall was for all of my music files to suddenly clones themselves as .wma files, and change their windows association from MC to WMA. Has anyone else experiences this?

WASAPI is a bit transparent path between the media player and the audio device.
The consequence is that what is send to the DAC using WASAPI should match the properties of the DAC.
As the M-DAC expects 24 bits words for input, you should send 24 bits words.
If the source is 16 bits, 8 zero bits will be padded.
This is not re-sampling as the sample rate remains unchanged.
