iTunes vs. JRiver re: Capturing Track info
« on: October 23, 2012, 11:22:06 am »

I am new to JRiver. Now that I am past the initial learning curve, I find that I really like it. However there is one area where it seems to fall short of iTunes, and that had to do with capturing the data from the CD. On several CD's I recently ripped, no track information is captured at all, whereas iTunes does capture this information from the same CD's. Also for a few CD's JRiver captures no CD information at all, whereas iTunes captures full information. Is that just the way it is?

I have also been somewhat disappointed for about 1/4 of my ripped CD's, no album art is captured while ripping. Furthermore, there seems to be no way to get the art externally after the fact. Am I missing something.

controlling under - tools - options - general - online metadata - your settings.
MC can also get the information automatically.
only the album cover, you must hold manually.

otherwise
under drives & devices
select your cd-drive
Now on the right side you will see your title, and on the top "update from online database"
also - with a right mouse click on your cd-drive - update from online database.

under - tools - cover art - get from internet
you can search for album cover
you need only select your songs before

ok
one or two mouse click more...
but

take your time and learn to know the program, you will need a lot longer than itunes.
MC has many more features, so you will also need more time.
and gradually .... almost perfect

I use itunes "only" with mcitunessynchronizer to sync my ipod touch (only runs in the background)
at 140,000 songs itunes is unusable

rhgh

and there are still "submit to online database"
I must often use among German jazz musicians
