Gizmo - video quality selection suggestion
« on: October 04, 2012, 02:44:53 pm »

Hi,

Gizmo currently allows one to select multiple different video quality.

Low (240p/0.5Mbps)
Medium (480p/1.5Mbps)
High (720p/5.0Mbps)

I am finding the current video quality selections too "coarse" - For example, while in a 4G LTE area, I would like to select 1280x720 at 2Mbps bitrate video quality.

My request to improve this would be to

* Provide a way to select resolution and bitrate separately.
* Always use the native resolution of the phone/device (with certain max) by default.
* More bitrates should be allowed 3G, 4G, 4G LTE, Bad Wi-Fi and Good Wi-Fi. I would suggest something like 0.5Mbps, 0.7Mbps, 1.0Mbps, 1.5Mbps, 2Mbps, 3Mbps, 4Mbps, 5Mbps.

Thanks,
Osho

Some adjustment would be nice indeed although at this moment I would be glad if I would get video streaming working at all in my galaxy s2...

Low: With 500kbps you should be able to get much better picture than 240p/15fps when using h264. No need to decrease frame rate. Maybe also use little less for sound here.

Medium: 1.5mbps setting is quite good as home ADSL here are commonly able to stream 2mbit

In general why is MC changing framerate to 15 or 30??? I also think that something like 384kbps and 1mbit settings could be useful
