Author Topic: Version 0.0.1 alpha of the "Album View" plugin for MJ v8 now available  (Read 3661 times)

You can pick it up from here:

http://www.jda-ltd.com/freeware/mjav.exe

Note that this is alpha software interfacing to beta software and as such there are some issues with it:

!  Exiting MJ does not kill the process (I am awaiting J River's help on this but use task manager to kill it)
 -  Double-clicking on an album does not play it (I am awaiting J River's help on this but the tracks are moved to the current playlist)
 -  Some albums are not shown in the thumbnails view (should be fixed in the next day or so)
 -  Clicking on an album in the treeview does not scroll the associated thumbnail into view

But it should give you an idea of how it works.

>>An album is considered "complete" when all it's tracks have the *same*
external image name.

This may be a problem since most of my mp3s/apls have internal images. I made one album linked to an external image but still does the same thing.

Does it scan a particular tree view node to get the albums? Could most likely be something on my end screwing it up if it works for others.

Some info on mine, maybe it will help track it down:

I have duplicated the problem on a fresh W2K machine ... I have removed the setup until I can see what's going on.

Version 0.0.2a is available:

http://www.jda-ltd.com/freeware/mjav.exe

This version fixes the crash problem (it was a missing component) and now supports double-clicking on an album to play it.

Do you plan to let us see a window with all available albums for all artists at the same time?

When do think you will get the next version out?

I have been DYING for this functionality....THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH.

Rhino,

I use my MJ through my TV...thing is that due to the crapy quality of TV I need to increase the size of the font that is displayed.

When I do it in MJ your plugin does not expand to a larger font....making it impossible to read.

Something to think about,

RhinoBanga

Just wondering if this plugin will allow MJ to scan all aval TV stations and comeup with a Picture of what is currently playing on each channel, then allow the user to select the picture to go to that channel.

If not I am wondering if J river could maybe build support for this option.

Mike:

Yes I will be showing all albums ... that should be there in some shape or form by the weekend (bugs/family/etc permitting).
Be aware though that it may take some time to generate them.

I was thinking of still splitting the albums by artist though and on a change of artist the thumbnails would start on a new line (showing the appropriate title of course so you know which artist your dealing with).   I may even implement this as a "full screen" ... I haven't decided yet.

Does this sound ok?

Also can you send me a screenshot showing what the plugin looks like with your large fonts so I can work out what functionality I need to implement.
I think I know what you need (I assume your running 800x600 with large fonts as I do on my TV/Computer downstairs) but I just want to confirm what I think I have to do.

KingSparta:

There is no automation control for the TV plugin but in theory it should be very simple for me to kick off a timer and scan the channels and create thumbnails on the fly.   If you get MJ to put it in I'll create a plugin for you.

I am hoping I will have 0.0.3a available for downloading this evening (if not then I will definately update the screenshots).

I think this version looks way cooler than the last Next Page

Are you accepting bug reports?

It's not listing the artists in any particular order that I can see. And some of the Artists\Albums, when I click on them, I get a listing of the wrong tracks.

This is very cool. I can't wait until it's more complete. Next Page

Doof,

I'd hold off until you get 0.0.3a before posting bugs.

I have re-written the data fetch/association routine.

Rhino,

I do not know how to add a screenshot to this text....sorry

but....I use 1024*768 on my TV.

MJ has a feature that allows you to increase the size of the font for the menus etc.....that's how I do it.

The thing is that when I change those properties....it does not change the ones inside of your plugin.

Also...is there a way to get the thumbnails even bigger?

Mike,

In the options screen (the toolbar button with the tick) there is an option to change the thumbnail size ... I think.
It's definately in there now but I can't remember 100% if it was in the last release.
If they are still too small let me know and I'll add some more sizes.

Re the font issue there is nothing I can do about that *at the moment* as MJ's font properties are not exposed *yet*.

Please email me a screenshot to jamie@jda-ltd.com so I can see how you run and how it looks with the different fonts.

The thumbnail size is there in this build.

Is the lower-right hand corner intended to be a full size view of the image? If so, could I voice a request for an option to either scale the image to fit that box, or allow scrolling? I just personally hate scrolling to see an image.

This is really great work, and it shows a lot of promise, not only for just this plugin, but for what's possible with other plugins. Next Page

Way ahead of you Doof Next Page

There is already code in there to intelligently size the bottom right image ... it's just disabled for now as there were a couple of bugs I needed to iron out.
