Screen going blank in Theater View
« on: January 10, 2013, 07:52:26 am »

My screen goes blank when I am in Theater View.  I happens after roughly 10 minutes.  It can be just sitting on the main menu, or playing a movie.  It just blanks out, and I have to reboot.  Happens in version 17 and now 18.  Any thoughts?

Update your video card drivers.

If that doesn't work, try disabling the different Sleep modes on your PC (in Windows and/or in the BIOS), or updating the ACPI drivers for your motherboard.  Things to try would be:

a. Look for a ACPI-related driver update from your motherboard vendor.  Also, update to the latest chipset drivers from Intel (InfUpdate).
b. Turn off Hybrid Sleep.
c. Turn off sleep altogether, to see if that causes it
d. Turn off S3 sleep in the BIOS

This is almost certainly either:

1. The GPU driver crapping out.
2. Some sleep-mode related problem (ACPI).
