Rename, move, copy tool does not work with stacks
« on: January 13, 2013, 07:07:25 am »

When using the rename, move, copy tool with stacks only the file on top is moved, the rest stays where it is. Is it supposed to work this way?

I find that it does work:

When changing the File Name it works as expected.
However when changing the directory, it ONLY move the top file in the stack.

Is this wrong? In my case no.
I have the flac in one directory and the mp3's in another, so I do not wish both to be moved as this would merge the two location into one.

If you have both in one folder, then I imagine you'd want both moved together. But how to make MC understand this?

It is supposed to work this way, yes.

If you want all files in the stack to be included in the operation, you must first expand the stack and select all the files you wish to be included.

Please read this: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=65617.msg439979#msg439979

It should give an idea of what's going on, and if after reading and understanding, you would like help in setting up a stack manager view, just shout.

It is supposed to work this way, yes.

I've never understood why, and it is totally counter-intuitive.  If the stacked items are in the same location it seems that the default should be to move the items and the 'expand and select' should be the way to override instead.

I do now understand more of how stacks are supposed to work.
However I also find that the whole stack should be moved, because you can achieve avoid mixing up by selecting the files by [File Type] in the rename section, which would at least do any folder changes in the mp3 folder and the flac folder.
