problems with music01 server function
« on: April 10, 2002, 06:15:46 am »

I have tried to start a server but when I try to connect from another computer it always fails, "failed to connect to server".  I tested the connection and it says that everything should be 'ok'.  I looked and the port is open.  No firewall software running but I do have a router.  Can anyone else connect to my server, Music01 id is scub.  I'm able to connect to other users ok.  Just not myself.

scub,
Check your maximum connections under Options -> Network. The message I received when trying to connect to you is that your Music01 Server had reached maximum connections.

using latest version (245) on both ends.  There is not limit on maximum connections.

I found the problem, maximum connections can't be left blank.  I changed that to 3 and it seems to work now.  It also doesn't like when I do a manual port selection of 81.  Had to set it back to auto which let me connect.

Manual port selection can be tricky, but it works. I don't use 80 on either of my servers.
