file folder name display
« on: February 03, 2013, 01:53:48 am »

Is there a way to display filefolder name as an expression that works? I'm using FileFolder() for the expression, but the name of the folder only displays if that folder contains just one file. for example, folders with tv show seasons (multiple files), the folder name is not displayed, but single file movie foldernames are displayed. This problem seems to happen when using the 'filepath' mode in 'customizable view' setting. I have view set as 'Categories' in the 'View as'.

Where are you using the expression?

If I set a category here using the expression option, and use filefolder() as the expression, it works as expected.

For example, I see a "Season 1" entry in the pane, and when selected, it lists every season one file for every series there is.

Do you have any other filters in play? For example, what settings are applied under "Set rules for file display"?

I think he's using it for Thumbnail text.  Filefolder() doesn't make sense for a category that contains multiple final paths, as the value would essentially be <varies>.  You can see this by selecting a category that has no value for FileFolder() and look at the Filename (path) field in the TAW.

What is it you are trying to get at that level?

this is how it set out
navigation panel on the left, under Video > Files. The customizable 'view as' is 'Catagories'. The Catagorie i selected is 'FilePath'.  now back to the list view , it is selected as 'List Style' > 'Details' (not thumbnail view). i have a column called folder, this is where I've added the expression 'Filefolder()'

Ok, seems the old format works

'ListItem([Filename (path)], Math(ListCount([Filename (path)], \) - 1), \)'

but new format 'Filefolder()' doesn't

I'm not seeing the problem when I use FileFolder() as an expression column in a Details file list view.   The only issue I saw was when I used it as Thumbnail text for the category.

Are you seeing this for only aggregate types such as DVD or Blu-ray?

If you share some screenshots, and a reliable way for us to reproduce, it is likely to get fixed if its a bug.  I can't reproduce in a column, so I'll need your help to narrow it down...

If you have Attach privileges, you can just attach them to your post.  Otherwise, the images need to be hosted somewhere, and you can paste the URL surrounded by [img][/img] tags:

I'm not able to reproduce it.  Hopefully someone will be able to create a case that always succeeds.
