trailing space question
« on: May 24, 2013, 10:21:31 am »

I'd have thought that this is a more common issue, but nothing comes up in the forum. So here goes the question:

Is there a way to delete the trailing space present in some tags? I suppose an expression can be made to locate those tags, but what is it? And how can we mass delete a single space at the end of tags?

If you rename the files with =RemoveCharacters([Name],/ ,3) it should remove the trailing space.

Media Center expression language: RemoveCharacters()

Also you can select the files, go to library tools > Clean File Properties

There are plenty of options there, and removing trailing spaces is one of them.

Wow! I'd completely forgotten the power of Clean File Properties! For some reason, I ended up thinking it meant "clean all the tags" and never bothered to open it .

Thanks.

That's funny, I use Clean File Properties… to change the tagging on all my files to Title Case (still ripping with dBpoweramp and I guess their metadata sources don't care) and I completely forgot that it also offered the option to clean leading and trailing spaces.
I even have the option enabled, I just forgot all about it.

...I just forgot all about it.

Get used to that.  :P  I've forgotten so much about JRiver already.  I'm sure there are things that I'm doing the hard way again, because I forgot the easy way :D
