Is it possible to run 2 separate installs of MC18 on W7 (not simultaneously)?  My Coast to Coast audio files have an entirely different set of preferences and presets and right now I use my MC17 license to manage them.

Seems like last time I checked, just creating a new library did not allow totally independent prefs.

You can allow two separate instances to run at one time:

Options > General > Advanced > Allow multiple instances.

But that won't solve the user-preferences issue.  What user preferences do you have different settings for?  I'm surprised what you'd need to change regularly that isn't covered by either a Library or a Zone.  Conversion settings, maybe, or File Locations.

The File Locations problem you could probably even solve by using a Calculated Field instead (and then just adding the Calculated Field, which can just be the plain text of the correct path if you want, to each library)...

I use a standard install and a portable install of MC18 on Windows 7- mainly because I have an Optimus Intel/Nvidia grahics laptop so the portable install is set to run only on the Intel graphics to save power when on battery. It is also a handy backup if something goes wrong with the standard install! (I always keep the portable install one build release behind the standard install)

Be aware though that the portable install will not run auto-updates correctly (it gets to the end and then starts up the standard MC install and fails) you can however update by running the update file manually as a reinstall which does work, so it is a good idea to disable autoupdates on the portable install.

I agree with Glynor though you might find it more convenient to use zones within a single install.
