JRiver Media Center for Mac version 18.0.139 Alpha -- Available Here
MrC:
Playlists and Smartlists are File Lists - that is, they show individual tracks.
You can make a view that shows your Playing Now items in groupings just like other views.
Create a new view of whatever type you want (e.g. Panes, Categories). Set a custom Set rules for file display using the Import/Export button:
[=isinplayingnow()]=1
See attached screenshot.

Very nice! I have it set up and running well--and sounds very good! A completely promising alpha release! Thanks!
I notice though that only about half my library has cover art, and that uncovered a couple of bugs:
1) when I copied my cover art directory from MC windows to the right location on my Mac, nothing changed (so the image files weren't being picked up)
2) when I tried to change the cover art directory in options to another location (USB attached drive) MC wouldn't let me :)
3) when I went to get the art from the internet with library tools, the system found the right art but wouldn't apply it to the album (and then would stay memory resident, so that the only way to shut down MC was to force a shutdown--exit kept saying tools were open when they weren't).
I wouldn't mention this at this stage except for number 3 (which requires the forced shut down) and that, in lieu of a theater view, the album art (zoomed) would totally do the trick for a (very) long while!
Thanks again!

I'm pretty impressed so far. The one thing that I can't get is my cover art. I've looked on your wiki page but I must be missing something. If I click on the thumbnail > Cover Art > Get From Internet > Select Image and Save Cover Art but it doesn't save that image.
Thoughts?

Thanks!

Given the amount of promotion PS Audio is doing on this new offering, that is a good question. Although my PWD MKII is performing well using EMM as a source running on a current Mac mini, OS X 10.8.2, with 16gb RAM and connected to the network via Ethernet, I am hopeful that MC will be a more reliable source, especially in a UPnP config. I would prefer not to use the Mac mini as the controller, even with a remote. I am looking forward to this development. In my own case, setting up the library to sync with my music folder of about 15,000 tracks, from start to finish, including cover art and thumbnail generation took about 6-7 minutes. Not bad at all. Analyzing audio took much longer, but no surprise there.

I am completely new to MC. Just installed it on my Mt. Lion iMac and when I try and play a song, I get no sound and the counter and blue bar do not advance. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
