v.18 - Core Component Failed to Load the Product Info file...

Hi all:  I posted this under a thread in the version 14 forum, but realized I'd have little luck with that and am now bringing it to the area where I believe it belongs.  I'm on Win7 x64 and latest version of v.18.

Hello all:

First post here and hoping that responding to this ancient thread will actually get some attention.
I'm on the latest build of v.18 (manual install file titled ..180136, file version in "details" tab is 4.64.0.0.

Anyway, I'm having the same issue the OP was having, back with v. 14. 



I downloaded the installer (typically I just update from w/in the gui) and ran it and the app loaded fine.  A couple of tunes and closed the app to do some work... next time I tried to open it, same bug.

Any ideas?  Please advise.

Thanks for your reply.  Actually, I get all my software updates from http://www.majorgeeks.com as I have been using that site for a decade and really trust those folks.  I purchased the licensed copy from JRiver, of course.   This is the first time I have ever had a single problem with JRiver's software.  Are you recommending that I download another copy from JRiver and try that?

Ok, but at the JRiver site, only an older version is available for DL.  Is there a JRiver source with the latest build?

Same problem.  Install the update and the app opens fine.  Once it's been closed it opens with the error every time following.

I'm wondering if you have a problem with drive corruption modifying that file. You might force a checkdisk and perhaps scan for viruses...

thanks, but it's not drive corruption or malware/virus.  Very odd.  I tried to roll back to an earlier version and, again, same issue.

I just uninstalled the app, ran a cleaning on the registry and manually cleaned out all files associated with JRiver (except the library files).  Clean install of build 0136, reinstalled some skins, configured my standard settings, closed the app, opened it to the SAME ISSUE. 

Please help here... I use this app every day to listen to music while I work and, with a paid license, I am hopeful I can manage to get it working, again.

What do you mean by "ran a cleaning on the registry" ?

Using a registry cleaner is generally not recommended (unless you inspect each line that is going to change and know exactly what each change is going to do.)

Can you access the above file and check its properties? I wonder if the error message should be taken literally. Perhaps something really prevents MC from accessing the file or corrupts it.

Alex is being too polite.  DO NOT use a registry cleaner.  If you have done so, please reinstall a build that you download from jriver.com.
