playback artifacts in alpha

(1/1)

JHR:
I'm happy to report that a bug I reported in the main thread--clicking and popping during FLAC playback--seems totally resolved by "playing from memory" in the options menu. Listening now for an extended time and no adverse artifacts :)

I heard this on two systems: a 2011 Macbook Air and a 2012 i7 Mac Mini, both running the latest OSX and used with an Audioquest Dragonfly USB DAC and local (USB) disks.

The system would crackle and pop intermittently regardless of source (FLAC). This didn't happen with Decibel, so something is unoptimized somewhere in the alpha (which is not surprising in the slightest!). But the workaround seems to be fine so far!

JimH:
It may also be the size of the buffer.  Try smaller or larger.

InfernoSTi:
I've had the same issue...wasn't sure what to call the pop pop pop.  I tried changing buffer size and playing from memory.  That is better but if I play multiple albums, it shows up again.  If I exit out between albums it seems to be fine.

JimH:
We know about at least one audio problem.  It could be the same.  Thanks.

Thanks! I will try this and report back, as well as extended playing.
