re-install not working
« on: March 06, 2003, 11:40:04 am »

After trying out some plug ins I began to have sound problems, the volume settings where unchangeable and the quality was very poor.  I tryed listening to music through other programs (long since forgotten) and the sound was okay.

I decided that I would try and reistall the program to see if this solved the problem.  Now it's unuseable - the interface is largely blacked out  :-[ I have tryed downloading again and again, but it always the same, how can I get my beloved MJ back????  Any assistance would be warmly received!  Thanks  Andy

To start, post (copy & paste) your sys info from MJ>Help>System Info.

When I uninstall should I be deleting registry entries?  The main thing I want to keep is my playlists, is there any way of saving these so I can completely get rid of MJ for a fresh re-install?

Registry entries left behind after an uninstall shouldn't hurt anything...but it wouldn't hurt to clear any straglers.

Go to MJ>File>Library>Library Manager. You'll see an option there to back up (and to restore later) your DB (including playlists). Or you could copy the *.jmd's out of the MediaJukebox\Data dir to a safe place...copy them back after reinstalling MJ. I'd update the ASPI (Adaptec) also.

Many thanks - I think I have secured the most important thing- my playlists!!  My original problem has been resolved as I have downloaded Version 9.  However.....the 30 day trial failed!  and it is not recognising any of the songs in the libary.  I appreciate this version is still in test so I shall search the forum for answers to my questions before troubling you guys further.  Hopefully things will work out soon and I can start to enjoying my music again!  many thanks....... 8)
