FiiO E17. An affordable ASIO DAC
« on: February 28, 2013, 07:19:42 pm »

Cost is around 140 US/Canadian Dollars plus 10 dollars for the line-out adapter.
The latest ASIO driver, as of Feb 2013, is version 1.0.16.3a available here:
http://www.fiio.com.cn/support/download.aspx

The only issue I have is the dac will loose connection with my PC once in a while.
I restart my computer then everything is fine.

Some Pictures to show 24-96 playback using ASIO:

I can't think of any benefit ASIO has over WASAPI for output when using windows vista, 7, or 8.
If using windows XP, ASIO is useful because there isn't WASAPI.
ASIO has benefits for line-in but it doesn't apply to your card.

I'm currently using three dacs / sound cards with ASIO but have never really thought about this before.
I guess i use ASIO because I used it before vista and have never really moved on.
