Madvr full screen exclusive mode and screen saver support?

I have enabled the blank/black screensaver on my htpc after 10 mins of inactivity to prevent burn in on my plasma. This works great unless I pause a video and then the screen saver never kicks in. It turns out this is happening only when I enable full screen exclusive mode for madvr. When disabled, everything's ok.

I have to use exclusive mode on this particular htpc because I get intermittent stuttering without it. I'm guessing its the gpu (AMD 6xxx) as this is not the case with my nvidia card in my other htpc.

I can set windows to turn off the display instead of activating the screensaver and this works BUT it leaves my tv showing an "input lost" message box which is a little, umm... lame. Not as nice as a plain black screen.

Over on the doom9 forums it seems some people have this problem and some people don't. I wonder if there's some setting I need to enable somewhere?

Any advice appreciated.
