Has anyone got this to work?  When I do it, only a few of the few hundred playlists I have show up in JRiver.

Ok...I have been messing about for a few hours and cannot seam to get any of my existing iTunes playlists to import. The few that did had no tracks in in them. Anyone got a good step by step tutorial. I have hundreds of playlists in iTunes I would care not to have to recreate.

Export as XML.  Then, you need to edit the XML file and strip off all file://localhost/ from the Location keys.  You can just Find all and replace with nothing.  Then, File > Import Playlist will work.

This assumes your music is on your local drive.

No its all on an external.

In that case, replace the file://localhost portion with /path/to/media.  The key here is that MC isn't using the file://localhost portion, and just wants a standard path.

Ok, so I am new to this so forgive my confusion. I open the xml file in tex edit and go to find and replace:

In find I type:

file://localhost

In replace I type:

/path/to/media

or is it:

file://path/to/media

No file:// portion.

Do a Get Info one one of your files, and you can see the path in the Where field.  You can copy the portion you need.  You want the paths in the XML to look exactly like the paths in the Get Info dialog's Where field.

I got it to work too on the playlist I exported from iTunes (my library is also on an external drive).
