DOES MC ALSO INSTALL SOUNDFLOWER?
« on: March 30, 2013, 08:17:31 am »

18.0.156 [New User]
MAC MINI [ML OS]
Soundflower seemed to be blocking any other output driver selection in Audio Midi.
Mac suggests not to install it.
Does this come with MC?
I don't recall ever installing it myself.
thanks

Welcome.

I've never heard the name Soundflower.  It's not related to JRiver.

Soundflower is a well known "virtual soundcard" for MacOS.
Some applications need soundflower to be installed.

Click "Learn More" beneath the "Download Sunflower" text.

Grobec,

I output to my PWDII via the soundflower 2-channel option on MC18- and it works a treat. SoundFlower is your friend. Click on it and configure other settings to taste. Do you have sound going to your dac?

I installed it years ago when I was using an M-Audio FireWire external soundcard.

Michael.
I know, I saw the PSA posts about using Soundflower and it just won't work for me and caused instability with other programs trying to use options in Midi.
I just see no option for usb output in MC for Mac.
Where is it usually?

Hi G, I saw your post in the PSA forum also. I am rather out of my depth with outputting via USB. I know that soundflower works for all situations I have needed to push audio out of my soundcard. If you are sending audio out to an EMM dac then it should pick it up. Have you made headway on this?

Just saw this on http://cycling74.com/products/soundflower/

"When using Soundflower to send audio to and from applications, you may find that you are not able to send audio through another device to monitor audio output. In such situations you can use Soundflowerbed, an application that resides in the Finder’s Menubar allowing you to tap into Soundflower channels and route them to an audio device."

I don't know if ot will help but may be worth investigating.
