How to play/record external source via DirectShow?
« on: December 25, 2013, 05:48:35 pm »

I would like to use MC to watch / record TV programs from a DVBS receiver that streams its analog output signal (via SCART/Cynch) to an Analog-Digital Converter (a.k.a. A/D, ADC), connected to the PC via USB. The problem is that MC does not "see" this device...
For comparison, other video software capable to stream & capture/record, such as VirtualDub or VLCplayer, do recognize and play this device - please see screenshots (the background images in both player windows show the DVBS receiver's chosen channel as desired, video & audio):
- Screenshot #1 is the VLCplayer window with the "Select Recording Source" dialog open, showing that "DirectShow" mode is playing (see source name "dshow://" in the background main window);
- Screenshot #2 is VirtualDub's open "Devices" menu, with the active "USB 2861 Device (DirectShow)" device selected.

Trying to open the same source as a stream in MC by entering "dshow://" does not work. How do I get this source to play in MC, and eventually record from it?
Many thanks in advance for any helpful reply!
