Wow, you got 1994 Techno Font instead. ;)

Is English your system language?

Weird, strange... looks like you might be missing a font or something and its defaulting to something very different.

Mine looks "reasonable".  The font renderign still isn't as clean as other apps, but it's not bad.

Oh, PS, forgot to ask if you know how to flush your font cache. That's usually the number one culprit in weird OS X display font stuff. Open terminal and type "sudo atsutil databases -remove" (no quotes). It'll ask for your password. Then restart.

Hmm, bummer. I dunno how JR's rendering system works so I dunno. Sorry.

Speaking of fonts/typefaces, is there a way to choose what typeface MC uses to display information?

I'd like something a little bolder and a little larger.

Dang, I'm still on Snow Leopard.

Some author recently compared Snow Leopard to Windows XP, an OS that many people will stay with for several years, upgrading just wasn't worth it.

On my Mac Mini (2009) I've installed an SSD that has two partitions: 10.6.8 on one and current (now ML 10.8.3) on the other.  Dual boot is so easy on a Mac.  I Carbon Copy Cloned my boot drive, partitioned it, reinstalled the OS 10.6.8 on both and upgraded the second one to 10.8.3.  I'm installing extra RAM this weekend (8 GB) so that should help things move along nicely...

Just an option to consider.

Best,
John

Mac MC uses the system default font, which has always been Lucida Grande in my experience.  Now that you disabled the 2tech font, does your text look like the screenshot that Kiwi posted?
