Converting DSD to FLAC and MP3
« on: April 17, 2013, 08:44:53 am »

Is it possible right now to convert a DSD file (DSF or DFF) to FLAC or MP3?

If not, is this feature planned for a future release?

Thanks

DSD files should play and work seamlessly in your library, so there's not a good argument for converting them in my opinion.  It's only going to hurt the quality.

As for whether it's possible, it's a gray area.  DSD comes out as 64-bit 352.8kHz PCM which encoders probably won't like.  That resolution is overkill so you could downconvert before conversion to something the encoder will like.  This might be possible by using DSP Studio during the conversion (an advanced option), but I'm not certain.

I would also like to see this feature integrated in MC 18.Also for SACD.isos.Simply for all formats.

It's not about the quality, but if i sync my playlists/library,etc... with my Portable Player,i would like to see all my songs on the portable device.(FLAC or MP3,etc,...)

Like the previous poster I would use this feature for converting dsd files to a format usable by a portable player. I use the real time pcm conversion of JRiver for playing in my living room system.

Right now I can only sync my portable player with non-DSD files converted to mp3

In the meantime You can use korg's audiogate to convert stereo dsd...but eventually all-in in MC would help the synching
