Loopback - default mode
« on: May 12, 2013, 05:42:52 pm »

Hi,

Is it possible to set up JRiver MC to run in loopback mode by default when no other audio/video is playing? It should be useful for hijacking audio from other applications when using limited input controllers, like IR remote controller or remote controller application on smartphone.

Regards,
Maciek

There isn't currently a supported way to do it.  I kind of rigged it up to work by running two instances of JRiver at the same time, described in this thread: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=78129.0

But it has some problems (also described in that thread), and I ultimately gave up on it because it was too hard to handle (I couldn't figure out how to get the computer to boot into it, and setting up on every boot was a pain)

you can add it to car radio preset (if you haven't already)

Does that automatically enable it, or is that just a shortcut to turning it on?

just a short cut... but now that you mention it... I might have seen an option somewhere to automatically start playing a playlist on start-up....
(I'm not home)
-check out Scheduler

I was aware of the ability to schedule loopback on startup, and that's definitely helpful, but it doesn't fully address the need for a default loopback (i.e. it's undone as soon as you play anything).  I think what OP is looking for (and what I am definitely looking for) is for an option to enable loopback automatically whenever JRiver isn't actively playing something.  That would greatly enhance the usability of theater view for, say, netflix or video game integration.
