timed recordings
« on: March 25, 2002, 09:35:31 am »

I am having a problem with timed recordings.  I want to use the timer to record things that I am not available to do myself.  I can record with no problem when I am there to start the recording manually, but when I use the timer I get the following message:

MEDIA JUKEBOX caused an invalid page fault in
module MSACM32.DLL at 017f:7b631450.

When I close the error message, I get another one that says:

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

windows 98 se, have you seen this before??    i am also getting a message that says "cannot create plug-in 'windows media' (which i not only have, but downloaded twice) follwed by "cannot create encoder control".   But I am able to record without the timer.  However, the timed recording is the main reason that I want the program in the first place.  Thank you in advance for any assistance.

I have the same problem with Win98 but when I used Win2000, it worked fine. It may be a bug in MJ operating with the older OS I think.

Thanks, I will check with a friend that is running 2000 and ask if he can download MJ and see if that helps.  I tried MJ8 (beta) since I wrote back and it was no better.  I would like to but the full version and keep the schedueler (if it works) but I can't believe that they have NO support other than this.  At least you had the same problem, saw my inquiry, and responded.  Thank you for your help.

Never tried with WinME but it may be worth a try as the OS, like Win98, would not take up as much space as Win2000...freeing extra valuable space for our mp3s.

Believe it or not, I do not use mp3's much, just wav files straight onto cd's.  But thank you for the info.

Toad:

The program developer and his support staff participate actively in this forum, along with other users who can help solve the problem. They jump in if they have an answer to your question; if they don't, its likely they can't replicate it and are hoping other users (like TJZJ) will respond.

Give it a chance. Its an effective way for a smaller company with limited resources to provide meaningful support - and good luck with the timer. I don't use it, so can't be of much help.

Thanks to TJZJ and to HTH for your responses.  I have ordered a copy of Win 2000 and am waiting for it.  I was really getting sick of Win 98 anyway, and have not heard the greatest of things about Win XP so far.  But if anyone knows how well the product works with Win XP, please let me know.  Thank you.  And I will try to not be so critical next time.
