Where has Tools > Advanced Tools > Record Sound gone?
Curtis:
I'm missing the standalone player. I'm trying out some free standalone apps (Isound is very low volume, Sound Recorder is wma only...) but none can let me name the recording up front and have it imported into an MC library. Though I can understand wanting to drop MFC.
I'm not a zone user. But I've created a new zone and linked it to DiskWriter. When I select File, Open Live, Line-in and select ASIO Line-in, the Configure button says <no ASIO devices detected>. If go ahead anyway and click OK, in a second or two I get a db: Playback problem: Something went wrong with playback. Can you help me getting this method working as a workaround for now?

No biggie. Thanks for the reply.

:( I too used the Record sound on a regular basis to record web streams of unfamiliar music. Seems like an desired feature.

For v18, you can create a zone, configure it to use Disk Writer, and then use File > Open Live > Line-in to record ASIO input to disk.
We may bring back a stand-alone recorder tool in a future version (built on the newer live plugins) depending on demand.
Sorry if this causes you any trouble.

Personally this is one the main features I have used for well over 10 years, the way it worked was also one of the best around. I won't be upgrading to MC20 if the feature is not put back in somehow
