converting 16 bit files to 24 bit

Can I rip 16 bit files to 24 bit or do I have to convert after ripping.If after ripping how do I do it?

Why do that ?

It does not improve the quality of the audio.

When ripping, you want to store 16-bit.  Output is always at the native bitdepth of your audio hardware (normally 24-bit).
